10 Secret Subplots You Didn’t Know Were Cut From Popular Movies

4. Constantine In Love - Constantine (2005)

Michelle Monaghan had an unfortunate time filming Constantine. One of the actress' earliest movie roles, she appears in the film only briefly in the final cut. It was later revealed by director Francis Lawrence that Monaghan was cut from the film not once, but twice during production.

In the deleted subplot, Constantine (Keanu Reeves) would have ended up in a relationship with Monaghan's character, Ellie. But Lawrence didn't like the story, stating that the movie worked better when Constantine was seen as a loner with no one to emotionally lean on.

After she was cut, Lawrence tried all he could to keep her in the film in a more substantial role, and filmed some more scenes with her. These didn't work out, either, and Monaghan was cut again.

Constantine ended up being mostly well received, and Monaghan ended up getting her big break in the dark crime comedy Kiss Kiss Bang Bang later that year.
