10 Seemingly Brilliant Movie Casting Choices Which Ultimately Fell Flat

8. Emilia Clarke As Sarah Connor - Terminator Genisys

When Emilia Clarke was cast to play the legendary Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys (2015) it seemed like the natural next step for a star who'd spent the last few years playing Westeros' badass Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen.

Sadly though, the British leading lady just wasn't able to step out of Linda Hamilton's iconic shadow throughout what would ultimately become the worst reviewed entry in the Terminator series.

On paper, the supremely talented GOT star was clearly as good a choice as any to take on the role, but fans just didn't connect with her Sarah like they did with Hamilton's original version. This eventually led to the Terminator (1984) and T2 (1991) legend returning to the franchise for the much better received Dark Fate (2019).

Clarke on the other hand tried to put her frustrating experience with machines behind her with stronger feature showings in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and Last Christmas (2019), and later admitted that she was relieved Genisys performed so badly as it meant she didn't have to return to a set where 'no one had a good time'.
