10 Sequels 2013 Just Doesn’t Need

6. Paranormal Activity 5

paranormal activity 5 Now we enter the dredges. The last four films had potential; but these six are the ones that have splinters in their fingernails having smashed through the bottom of the barrel and come out the other side. Paranormal Activity was a surprisingly suspenseful little found footage effort. It wasn€™t ground breaking but it got audience attention and looked like it was on the way to cult status. Then some dingbat producer got this great idea...why not make it a franchise? Who cares if it€™s a one trick pony, we€™ll milk it for all it€™s worth. So here I am, lamenting the impending Paranormal Activity 5. While the second film was completely forgettable, the third was worth a watch as it perfected the formula and changed the setting dramatically. But four left a bad taste in my mouth. Ignoring the audience of thrill seeking tweens that almost had me walking out of the theatre; I could see the concept had clearly run aground. The scares were pathetically obvious right from the get go. What€™s worse? We were left with more questions than answers, again. The filmmakers clearly have no idea where they€™re taking this franchise anymore. They certainly aren€™t willing to give us any resemblance of a resolution...it€™s about time they killed Katie in a random explosion and called it a day.
