10 Sequels To Incredible Movies Nobody Asked For
9. Zoolander 2
Sometimes a sequel comes out so long after the original movie that fans are left to wonder why it got made at all. This is certainly the case with 2016's Zoolander 2, the sequel to 2001's Zoolander, a brilliant Ben Stiller satire on the fashion industry.
With a plot line so complete in the original involving an assassination attempt on the Malaysian Prime Minister and the most ridiculous and hilarious jokes along the way, it came as somewhat of a shock when a sequel was released 15 years later. It was even more bizarre considering that Ben Stiller had been trying to get it made since way back in 2008.
Upon release Zoolander 2 was an immediate box office dud, only just making back its $55 million budget. Most reviewers and fans dismissed it as a poor rehashing of the original and a pointless selection of celebrity cameos. Much of the humour which made Zoolander so special was so out of date even by 2016 that the project seemed doomed to fail from the start.
Bizarrely Ben Stiller was delighted with it being a box office flop, giving him a better excuse to pursue some more serious acting roles.
