10 Sequels We Don't Really Need But Would Love To See Anyway

6. Serenity 2

Serenity Browncoats across the globe were heartbroken when Joss Whedon's show Firefly was abruptly cancelled in 2002. They were given a short reprieve three years later when Whedon brought Serenity to the big screen, which featured all of our favorite characters in an exciting new adventure. It was a small victory for diehard fans who had been vehemently lobbying for the show to be given new life, but the film wasn't overly successful (grossing a mere $38 million on a $39 million budget). Nevertheless, fans were quick to suspect that either a trilogy of films or a television revival was in the works, but in 2006 Whedon himself gave the grim news that no such plans had materialised:
"There's no sequel, no secret project regarding Serenity or some-such and I'm not even sure how anyone thought there was talk there. I've seen Nathan and Tim (and Summer and Alan) recently because they're my friends because I'm so, yeah, awesome. So let's put that to bed and smother it with a pillow."
The director has since stated that a sequel isn't impossible, but is more along the lines of "wishful thinking," and the chances of it happening are slim to none at this point. However, there is a sequel comic in the works, so Browncoats - in a sense - can add another small victory to their resumes.
