10 Sequels We Don't Really Need But Would Love To See Anyway

5. Hellboy 3

Hellboy3 Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy was released in 2004, grossed $99 million (from a $66 million budget), and was favourably received by critics. It was a big hit with fans of the character, and received a sequel in 2008. Hellboy II: The Golden Army made more money (grossing $160 million), though it cost more to make ($85 million), and received more positive reviews than its predecessor (87% on Rotten Tomatoes vs. Hellboy's 81%). Both films were wildly entertaining, and proved themselves to be great additions to the superhero film genre, adding a bit of variety in amongst all the cape-and-costume-clad heroes we're used to seeing. Fans have been actively (and loudly) demanding that del Toro and star Ron Perlman reunite for a third film, to round out the trilogy and finally feature Hellboy's apocalyptic destiny that's been hinted at in the first two installments. Unfortunately, those films didn't make quite enough money for the studio to warrant another one, despite del Toro's wish to see it happen.
