10 Sequels We Don't Really Need But Would Love To See Anyway

3. District 10

District10 District 9 is, arguably, one of the best science-fiction films of all time, and was another sleeper hit when it debuted in 2009. It marked the feature film debut of Neil Blomkamp (who directed this year's less successful Elysium), and was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture. The film was met with critical acclaim upon release and did substantially well at the box office, raking in a whopping $210 million from its modest budget of $30 million. Blomkamp immediately began hinting at his intention of making a sequel a few weeks before the film hit theatres, and has since said he's still interested, but likes focusing on one film at a time. He's currently working on his next project, Chappie (starring Hugh Jackman and Sharlto Copley), due in 2015 - perhaps when he's finished with that he will return to Johannesburg. The first film left us with a pretty great cliffhanger, and though it stands perfectly well on its own, there's no doubt that Blomkamp could do something extraordinary with a follow-up.
