7. "Oh God, Oh Man" - Tough Guys Don't Dance

Norman Mailer's Tough Guys Don't Dance probably isn't a film you've heard of, except perhaps for this riotously funny scene which has been remarked by several YouTube posters as "the worst line reading ever". Ryan O'Neal's character is reading a note from his ex-girlfriend on the beach - because apparently you need to visit the beach to open your mail? - which explains that his wife has been having an affair with her husband. O'Neal's reaction goes beyond merely priceless to becoming an act of deranged beauty.

O'Neal manically shouts "Oh man! Oh God! Oh man! Oh God! Oh man! Oh God! Oh man! Oh God! Oh man! Oh God!", and director Mailer very nearly cut this part of the scene because he thought it too over-the-top, yet felt it did add to the film, so kept it in.

O'Neal, meanwhile, wasn't too happy about this, worried that his acting credibility might diminish as a result, yet frankly, the clip probably made a whole new generation of people know who he is...
