10 Shameful Movie Moments Of Extreme Cowardice

8. David Stays In The Background (Shaun Of The Dead)

DavidSotD Pompous, obnoxious lecturer David was the most annoying character in the brilliant Shaun of the Dead by far. His cowardice didn't really come in a specific moment - it was more a general theme throughout the film. Although David has a girlfriend €“ Dianne €“ he is clearly in love with Shaun€™s girlfriend Liz and, although he flat out denies this fact, his constant stream of snotty comments towards Shaun and his disapproving glances whenever the two are chatting make his denials quite empty and pointless. Once the zombie epidemic is in full swing and the undead are attacking, David is of little use. He cowardly remains in the background while the likes of Shaun and Ed do all of the zombie-slaying. That is, of course, until Shaun€™s Mother dies and rises as a zombie €“ it is at this point that David suddenly feels the urge to do some killing, which obviously really riles Shaun, Ed and the other characters, as well as the audience, and results in a stand-off between the characters. Ultimately, Shaun kills his own Mother, and a subsequent comment from David about how it was the right thing to do results in him receiving a very satisfying punch in the face from Shaun. David then tries to shoot Shaun, but the gun is luckily not loaded. He then backs towards the windows of the pub they€™re in and zombies burst through, tearing him apart and leaving the audience highly pleased that this horrible, annoying, cowardly git has been offed.
