10 Shocking Movie Moments That Made People Leave The Cinema

7. Reservoir Dogs (1992)

Sometimes it's the whole film that builds up to a single moment of abject revulsion, and sometimes it's just the moment of the single scene itself that decides whether they'll be sweeping the popcorn before the credits roll.

But, considering the gratuitous brutality of Tarantino's career since, which has made his debut look like Rugrats, you might be surprised that Reservoir Dogs is the film that is known for its audience walkouts.

Messrs Pink, Blonde, Orange, Blue, White and Brown (Quentin Tarantino himself) band together for a jewel heist that occurs off-camera, and the film devotes as much time to witty repartee as it does to blood and bullets.

But, when it came to the film's infamous midpoint torture scene, in which Mr Blonde slices off a police officer's ear to an ironically juxtaposed Stealers Wheels soundtrack, audiences just couldn't hack it (pun intended).

Tarantino himself went on tour with the film and tallied audience walkouts, one of which included Wes Craven - yes, that Wes Craven. Stuck in the middle with who?
