10 Shocking Stories From The Star Wars Expanded Universe

3. Han And Leia's Son Turns Evil

One of the ways in which Leia tried to overcome her fear of Vader was through naming one of her children Anakin. She wished to redeem his name and see what could have been if the original Anakin hadn€™t succumbed to the Dark Side. If you€™re assuming that Anakin Jnr turns out to be evil, think again. That role actually falls to another to Leia and Han Solo€™s children €“ Jacen Solo. He learned the ways of the Force from his uncle Luke Skywalker after some turbulent formative years that consisted of several botched kidnapping attempts. Jacen was captured and tortured by an enemy of the New Republic. A while after escaping he had a vision of a dark figure ruling the galaxy. He was determined to prevent the fulfilment of this prophecy. He joined the Sith for a similar reason, having sensed that he would kill his mentor Luke if he didn€™t join the Dark Side. The writers made his reign of terror particularly unsympathetic €“ he killed his own relatives and loved ones, for example. There was no Vader-style redemption for him, either - he was only stopped by his own death. The Force Awakens will probably look at the Skywalker/Solo heritage, too. Daisy Ridley€™s Rey could well be involved in that storyline.
