Immortalising himself in the hearts of teenagers the world in the wake of his mid-noughties debuts in the likes of the Harry Potter and Twilight movie adaptations, it may come as a bit of a surprise to hear that the former big break in particular was actually more of favour to Robert Pattinson than anything else.

During a conversation with W Magazine years after his first steps into the movie world, The Batman star would confess that The Goblet of Fire wasn't actually his first big role within the business. The Brit was initially cast as Reese Witherspoon's son in Vanity Fair and filmed scenes for the 2004 flick before his role was cut in the editing room... a fact Pattinson wasn't made aware of until he'd actually taken in the flick himself.

Yet, this unfortunate turn of events actually resulted in casting director Mary Selway feeling so guilty about the way the youngster was treated that she eventually gifted Pattinson with the first shot at Cedric Diggory when it came time to cast an actor for this pivotal Potter part.

And the rest was spellbinding history.
