2. Triplets
This genuinely sounds like a joke, but I can assure you Hollywood executives have green-lit this project. And, it isnʼt the first time theyʼve attempted to make this one either. Back in the ʻ90s, Roseanne Barr was tipped to join the twins in a sequel of the same name. Thankfully, it stalled but has now chillingly awoke from the depths of an executives dusty filling cabinet. Ivan Reitman is slated to direct the sequel which will see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito reprise their roles, with Eddie Murphy rumoured to being close to signing up. The project has been met with delays due to the studio wanting to get the script right, but the film is planned to still go ahead. The original was a number one hit at the box office during the 1988 Christmas holidays. Its premise was wacky, off-the-wall and dumb, but movies such as Twins were very popular in the ʻ80s, clearly displaying what was vogue in comedy back then. But, in all honestly, can you see a movie such as Triplets being welcomed by todayʼs moviegoers? I may sound skeptical, but I can only see one direction this movie is heading. Not only is its premise dated but its cast is out of touch with todayʼs audiences too. When was the last time we saw Danny DeVito? When did Eddie Murphy last make a good movie? Add to that, the recent shortcomings of Terminator Genisys has shown Arnold Schwarzennger isnʼt as relevant today as he was when Twins was released.
