This mooted second movie isnʼt planned to be a direct sequel to the Matthew Vaughn- helmed original. Itʼll be backed by Jason Stathamʼs production company who recently picked up the rights for Layer Cake sequel, Viva La Madness. Both books were written by J.J. Connolly, so at least there will be some consistency in the material. However, Statham will pick of the reigns of Daniel Craig's character. Now that is a reason to be hesitant of this sequel. My biggest gripes with sequels or prequels, or any form of spin-off, is when the main character is portrayed by a different actor. It grates even more when it's two actors that are chalk and cheese when it comes to their acting abilities. But with Statham so keen on getting this movie rolling, does he see it as a vehicle for him to become the next James Bond? That reality doesnʼt bare thinking about. So far everything regarding Viva La Madness has come from the mouth of the Statham, who says theyʼre planning to shoot next year even though a director has yet to be announced.
