10 Shudder Originals You Must Watch For Halloween 2020

9. La Lorona

Not to be confused with Hollywood misfire The Curse of La Llorona from 2019, this foreign language piece of cinema is an exercise in slow-burn dread and tension.

Set in Guatemala, the movie follows an elderly dictator being tried for crimes against humanity and the genocide of innocent people, all the while slowly losing his mind.

Holed up with his family at home, which is under siege by protestors, they wait in hope for the controversy to die down. But after a new worker is brought into the house to help, supernatural occurrences abound, and it becomes clear the protestors outside aren't the only forces looking for revenge.

La Llorona eschews jump scares to focus on the psychological drama of the families situation and the horror that comes with it, thus making it a great watch for any time of year. But if you want a change of pace this Halloween, you can't get much better than this international horror drama gem.
