10 Signs Star Wars 7 Will Redeem The Franchise

4. The Director Has Chops

Shortly after Disney announced its plans to continue the Star Wars saga with Episode 7, the Internet exploded with rampant speculation about who would take the reins of the biggest franchise in cinematic history. In January of 2013 Lucasfilm announced that the director of Star Trek and Mission Impossible III, J. J. Abrams, landed every director€™s dream job. Abrams is the logical choice to usher in a new wave of Star Wars films. He already resurrected the dormant Star Trek franchise to critical acclaim and mammoth success. A professed Star Wars fan, Abrams reinvigorated Trek by transforming the series into something akin to Star Wars. With a heavy emphasis on fun and space action, Abrams€™ Star Trek reboot, and its sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, demonstrated definitively that Abrams knows how to direct large-scale space operas. Abrams has proven his Star Wars fan bona fides with each directorial choice he€™s made so far. He€™s assembled a stellar cast, brought back practical effects, and tapped Lawrence Kasdan to help write the screenplay. In a recent interview, Abrams promised to make Episode 7 as €œemotional and authentic€ as possible. Given what we€™ve seen so far, there€™s no reason to doubt that statement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWBGrkc360M
