10 Silver Linings To Godawful Comic Book Movies

5. Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer (2007) - Silver Surfing

silver-surfer It was admirable of the Fantastic Four films to try and break away from the gritty darker comic book movies that came into vogue around the 2000's, but the franchise often descended too far into camp entertainment that lacked substance for die-hard fans of the source material. Despite its faults though, many critics felt that Rise of the Silver Surfer improved upon its predecessor and key to this was the cinematic debut of the Silver Surfer himself, an iconic Marvel character who translated surprisingly well to the big screen. The special effects that brought the cosmic hero to life looked incredible and this came particularly to the fore during a chase scene between the Silver Surfer and the Human Torch, which is undoubtedly the highlight of the film. After the Silver Surfer interrupts the wedding of Reed and Sue, Johnny gives chase, flying through New York City and beyond to get answers. After an exhilarating pursuit, the Human Torch finally catches up, only to be grabbed with ease by the Surfer, who then takes Johnny out into the Earths atmosphere and drops him as if he were nothing more than a mere annoyance. It's a standout moment in an otherwise mediocre film and honestly, who didn't get a kick out of seeing the obnoxious Johnny being brought down a peg or two?
