10 Simple Fixes That Would Have Made Star Wars: The Force Awakens Perfect

5. Give Maz Force Powers

Here’s one thing that was almost meant to be in the movie, but was cut for time and wound up weakening an entire character.

Now, there was a lot changed with Maz Kanata. The original trailers had her in the Resistance base and she talking very different to how she was in the finished film, which suggested she was going to be a more mystical, straight up Yoda character, although that’s nothing on this biggie: she was going to have the Force.

Now that would have been a great twist in the middle of the film, taking the Force outside of the Jedi/Sith confines and giving a taste of the post-Jedi galaxy's multicultural make-up. Maybe it was deemed too Yoda-y and things were changed, but there’s no avoiding her character feels a little half-baked because it's not there.

Although if this was fixed, you definitely don't want it done in the same method as the script suggested, with a scene of Han joking with Stormtroopers about Snoke's name ("Smoke? What makes him Surpreme?") intended to end with the sudden reveal a real groaner.
