10 Simple Ways Joss Whedon Could Screw Up Avengers: Age Of Ultron
8. The Tease
The post credit scene has become synonymous with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and for many these short clips often offer the most exciting moment of the movie. As way of teasing what's to come, keep the story going, or just make the audience laugh, the post-credit scene has become an important part of tent-pole franchises so much so that Joss Whedon really needs to consider what that final image of the movie will be. With fan expectations resting on the fact that Thanos is meant to be the antagonist behind everything, the tease or teases - to Phase 3 need to set the tone the right way. Think of The Wolverine for a second and the feeling you got during the mid-credits scene yeah I know, crazy, eh? Might even be the best scene of the movie, right? That's because it was perfectly executed it had a surprising amount of content and left you with a cliff-hanger that didn't overstay its welcome or give too much away. I don't know about you, but with my non-comic book fans I had to do a whole lot of explaining regarding "that purple guy during the credits" after watching The Avengers. While comic fans received his mid-credits appearance well, the lack of content led a lot of the general audience wondering just what all that was about. Same thing happened with the shout out to Guardians at the end of Thor: The Dark World while every comic fan collectively fist pumped, the uninitiated kind of scratched their heads and said "Where did Mugato come from?" A solid post-credit scene that teases and gives the world just enough meat to chew on would go a long way in getting the masses hyped up for Phase 3. And incidentally would probably save the rest of us the annoying chore of having to explain the damn thing every time. Just saying.
