10 Slasher Horror Movie Openings That Get Worse The More You Think About It
3. Framed For Murder - Blood Rage
Released in 1987, Blood Rage - also known as Nightmare at Shadow Woods in some markets - centres on a pair of identical twins, both played by Mark Soper in their adult form. The catch here, is one twin is nice and normal, the other twin is an insane murderer.
The opening of this John Grissmer-helmed offering sees Maddy on a drive-thru first date, while her twin boys - Todd and Terry - sleep in the trunk of her car. Oh, and the siblings have a shotgun for company.
From here, the kiddos sneak off while their mother plays tonsil hockey, and we soon have our first kill of the movie. That kill sees Terry butcher (with a machete) a random teen who's trying to get laid in a nearby car. By the time anyone arrives on the scene of this murder, Terry has placed the machete in Todd's hands and covered his brother in blood - framing him for the murder.
As a result of this, Todd is locked up in a mental asylum, and the action of Blood Rage skips ahead to the present-day as a new spate of murders coincide with Todd's escape from the nuthouse.
To go back to that opening, the kids bemoaning how they're mother is "back at it again" suggests that it's a regular occurrence for Maddy to take her sons on dates with strangers, where she leaves them with a shotgun and their own imaginations to keep them entertained.
