10 Small Changes That Would Have Improved The Star Wars Prequels

8. Anakin Should Have Been Different

Despite the lack of good dialogue granted to him, Hayden Christensen and Jake Lloyd were still awful choices to play someone who eventually becomes one of the greatest villains in film history. Besides casting better actors, I think Anakin should have been an older character when he is first introduced in the Phantom Menace. While it might have made recasting for the second one more difficult, it still would have prevented us from having to see Darth Vader played by an annoying little kid. The character of Anakin Skywalker was the focus of the original trilogy and was the one thing that the prequels absolutely had to get right to work - unfortunately, they failed fairly spectacularly. Other characters besides Anakin should have been changed, but weren't really as important as Anakin. I still think Jar Jar was a good idea in principal, but in practice was just awful and the Gungans overall should have been more intimidating. The Nemodians and the droids should have gotten new voices and General Grievous shouldn't have come across as incompetent as he did.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
