10 Small Details That Could Ruin Upcoming Comic Book Movies
7. The Handling Of "Meta" Aspects - Deadpool
Deadpool is a relatively strange superhero to factor into a cinematic universe, but that's precisely what Fox are doing, merging him with the likes of the X-Men so that they can laugh and fight and banter together in upcoming flicks. The inherent problem here, however, stems from the fact that Deadpool is an intentionally "meta" hero - he's self-aware, and is famed for his ability to break the fourth well and comment on stuff. To place this character into the confines of a cinematic universe, however, means that these aspects will either have to be fashioned in another way or cut out completely. We can't have Deadpool "knowing" that he's in a comic book movie if he's part of the X-Men world, because the rules of that universe have already been set out? And yet Deadpool's self-awareness is what makes him great; a tricky situation indeed, this.
