At the climax of Zack Snyder's divisive superhero epic, it's revealed that Adrian Veidt aka Ozymandias (Matthew Goode) has been behind basically every bad thing that's happened throughout the movie.

His ploy was to united the United States and the U.S.S.R. by turning them against a common enemy, Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup), who he intends to frame for a series of energy reactor explosions across major worldwide cities.

As a stunned Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) and Nite Owl II (Patrick Wilson) listen to Veidt's exposition, they move to stop him, only for Veidt to drop the megaton revelation that he triggered the explosions 35 minutes prior.

Considering that audiences are so used to campy villains pre-announcing their plans before they're inexorably foiled by the heroes, Ozymandias' unparalleled level of organisation is really quite terrific.

He beat the heroes to the punch and was even able to gloat about it afterwards.
