10 Smartest Decisions In Superhero Movie History

10. Cap Pretends To Be A HYDRA Agent - Avengers: Endgame

Captain America (Chris Evans) has always been one to think on his feet, and perhaps no better than when he travels back to 2012 in Avengers: Endgame.

Cap's mission is to acquire the Mind Stone from Stark Tower, where it's housed inside Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) Scepter while being transported by S.H.I.E.L.D./HYDRA agents.

Cap gets into an elevator with the corrupt S.H.I.E.L.D. unit including Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo) and Jasper Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernández), and despite insisting that Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) ordered him to take possession of the Scepter, the tainted agents aren't too keen to hand it over.

That all changes, however, when Cap leans over and whispers in Sitwell's ear, "Hail HYDRA", ingeniously implying that even good 'ol Captain America himself is a freaking sleeper agent embedded within S.H.I.E.L.D.

As such, Cap's able to avoid a second elevator fight, walking out with the Scepter safely in his possession.

And if that's not smart enough for you, Cap has one more genius trick up his sleeve when he battles his 2012 self: he changes the tide of the fight by telling his more earnest equivalent, "Bucky...is...alive!" Brilliant.
