3. The Muppet Christmas Carol
When the magic of Christmas/fear of posthumous ridicule (delete as appropriate) sends Scrooge (Michael Caine) dancing into the streets, the eagle-eyed (American or otherwise) may have spotted a shop called Micklewhites in Kermit and co's Dickensian London backdrop. Nothing extraordinary there, you might assume, just your typical Cockney-sounding family business. And you would be right. In fact, this particular branch of Micklewhite was founded eighty years ago. Yup, Michael Caine was born Maurice Micklewhite. There's also a pub in the film called Statler and Waldorf but, as far as we know, the Muppet grouches don't share their name with any members of the cast. Shame.
