10 Songs You Probably Didn't Know Were Inspired By Horror Movies

8. Fozzy – Sandpaper

Though it's now been over two decades since their formation, many will still be unaware of who Fozzy are. For those still not in the know, Fozzy is a hard rock band formed by Chris Jericho, the last WCW World Heavyweight Champion (crowned a mere year after the all-time WCW champion David Arquette won the title), with a handful of other musicians.

Since their inception, the band have released seven whole studio albums and collaborated with some of rock and metal's biggest stars, including M Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) on 2012's Sin and Bones.

With an over-the-top style typical of Jericho's many outputs, the album's second track Sandpaper talks of wounds, flesh, monsters, bones and visions - in short, the basic horror toolkit of every metal songwriter to don black leather trousers and a pair of shades.

However, Sandpaper is not quite your typical 80-grit blend. As reflected by the music video, the song was inspired by Sam Raimi's 1981 cult classic, The Evil Dead, where a group of five friends abscond to a cabin in the woods, leaf through The Book Of The Dead and raise a demonic entity - though fortunately not Chris Jericho.
