10 Spider-Man Characters Who Could Headline The Female Spin-Off Movie
3. Spider-Girl / Araña (Anya Corazon)
Who Is She? Anya Corazon is a teenage girl who is recruited by a mystical clan called the Spider Society to be one of their Hunters. They perform a ritual that grants her numerous spider-powers, including an exoskeleton that forms over her body. She joins the Spider Society, taking on the name Araña and facing off against their adversaries, the Sisterhood of the Wasp. Anya eventually leaves the Spider Society and loses her powers, but she becomes Spider-Girl when given Julia Carpenters old uniform, later regaining her powers from the Jackal. Likelihood? Anya does have a few things going for her. For one, not only is she a female character but shes a Latina character as well, and that could differentiate her a lot from the crowd, given how so many superhero movies are white male-centric. The mystical aspect of her history with the Spider Society also helps differentiate her from Spider-Man even more. But the real question is does it differentiate her too much? The ASM movies have been heavily focused on the sci-fi aspects of Spideys world. Throwing in mystic elements like the Spider Society might be too much for viewers, and it may not be the route Sony wants to take.
