10 Spine-Chilling Winter Horror Movies

7. Wind Chill (2007)

While supernatural chiller Wind Chill is set during the Christmas period, it's a winter horror film that has little to do with the festive season.

The film stars Emily Blunt as an unnamed college student who plans to travel home for Christmas. She uses her school’s ride share service to get a lift with another student (Ashton Holmes), who claims to know her form class. En route, however, their car swerves off the road when a shortcut on a notoriously dangerous road ends in disaster, landing them in the centre of a real-life ghost story.

They awake to find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere with help just out of reach. Ghostly figures are glimpsed in the foggy distance and the pair are soon harassed by a malicious police officer (played menacingly by Martin Donovan). As the pair try to find a way to survive the otherworldly situation the find themselves in, they eventually uncover a sinister truth.

Blunt steals the show here. Still a rising star at the time, fresh from her role in The Devil Wears Prada, her stellar performance proved that she was a talent to be reckoned with.
