10 Spooky Films About Witchcraft

Hocuspocus Halloween may have been and gone, but that's no reason to pack up your spooky films for another year. Witchcraft is without a doubt on its way to being the new vogue. The first two episodes of American Horror Story: Coven rocketed into FX's top three telecasts of all-time, after all, suggesting that you should really start boning up on your cultural witch history. The most enjoyable thing about witchcraft as a central theme to film and TV is that it can be both extremely silly and downright bone-chillingly terrifying. The most powerful witches are often simultaneously snarkily hilarious and disturbingly cruel, allowing a film to have a spooky outline but still be funny, heartfelt, or even a children's film. So celebrate Halloween for another month (it's much too early for Christmas, after all) and familiarise yourself further with the (often camp-tastic) stylings of witchcraft on film. Whether you like silly, creepy, or downright terrifying depictions of witches and their craft, 10 of the best (read: my personal favourites) are listed here for your viewing pleasure...

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
