10 Spooky Films About Witchcraft

6. Sleeping Beauty

Rsz 1rsz Sleepingbeauty All Disney films centre on a certain amount of magic and witchery. The primary antagonist (or baddy, if you like) is almost always an evil witch or wizard, and it's only with the help of fairy godmothers, or just fairies, that our heroine succeeds. I choose Sleeping Beauty over the other Disney films because of Maleficent. As the name suggests, she is equal parts malicious and magnificent (although maleficent itself means "to do harm"), adhering to the witchy stereotype of being both all kinds of evil and absolutely fabulous. There are actually plans for a Maleficent film to be released next year, with Angelina Jolie in the title role. Let's just think about how awesome that will probably be for a moment, shall we? Sleeping Beauty is the ultimate spooky Disney film when it comes to witchcraft. Maleficent's vendetta against the baby Aurora up until adulthood is creepy in its obsession, and Maleficent herself is probably one of Disney's most frightening villains. She possesses power longed for by many witches, and casts inventively sinister spells. Cursing spinning wheels is one thing, but sentencing a young girl she's barely met to a lifetime asleep in a fortress of thorns is 10 types of crazy (with a cherry on top).

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
