10 Star Wars Characters Recast With Disney Animated Characters

For the past few days now, the news that Disney has brought LucasArts and is creating another Star Wars movie has really been all anyone has been talking about (in the movie world anyway)- even completely overshadowing the completely awesome news that Bryan Singer is directing X-Men: Days of Future Past. Very soon this hype will die down until some actual important information about the content of the next Star Wars film will be released... and I for one am really looking forward to this day. But this doesn't mean we can't have a bit of fun with the news until then does it? Star Wars and Disney have never really been uttered in the same sentence together until the past week, but now that the two brands are together, regardless of the fact that Mickey Mouse and co. certainly won't be appearing in any future Star Wars movies- you can't help but imagine what life would be like if they did. Join me in imagining what the Star Wars films and characters would be like if Disney decided to remake the saga but replaced all the original characters with classic Disney animated characters we all know and love (much like Family Guy and Robot Chicken have done in the past)....

10. Jiminy Cricket as "Yoda"

This one was really a toss up between two classic Disney characters... either Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc, or Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio, but in the end I made my choice. Now, this choice isn't simply because this character has a very similar coloring to Yoda, and nor was that the case when I considered Mike, but it certainly does help. This character is small (like Yoda), carries a small umbrella around with him (like Yoda carries a lightsaber) and is incredibly wise. Jiminy Cricket is Pinocchio's guide in the film, who leads him along an important journey of self discovery, much like Yoda is Luke Skywalker's guide. The two pretty much serve the exact same purposes in both films, and although Pinocchio is a children's Disney film, I get the sense that Jiminy Cricket has been around the block a bit, and if push came to shove he would be a bit of a bad ass himself- much like Yoda. Coming to think about this, there are many characters in the Disney world that could easily do Yoda justice. Rafiki from The Lion King anyone?
