10 Star Wars Characters That Came Back From The Dead (And How)

For a character who was little more than a footnote to begin with, Darth Maul now has one of the best stories in the Star Wars universe.

After being cut in half and presumed dead in The Phantom Menace, Maul's body fell down the shaft in Theed Palace's power generator facility. Being sliced in two and falling from a great height would kill anyone, but not this Sith Assassin.

Fuelling himself through his hatred of the Jedi who defeated him, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Maul's body was brought to the junk planet of Lotho Minor, where he stewed in his rage for a decade. During the Clone Wars, Maul was found by his brother, Savage Opress, who took him to the Nightsister Witch, Mother Talzin, on Dathomir, who gifted the assassin metallic legs.

Wanting revenge on Kenobi, Maul and Opress scavenged the galaxy looking for the Jedi, having several encounters with him along the way. The Sith pair were eventually found by the Mandalorian terrorist organisation, Death Watch, who took them in, hoping to use them to take control of Mandalore. The plan worked, but Maul wanted the planet for himself, and so killed the leader of Death Watch, Pre Vizla.

The Sith finally got his revenge on Kenobi when he murdered his old lover, Dutchess Satine, in front of the distraught Jedi. However, he was bested again by the Jedi years later, with Maul ultimately perishing in a duel on Tatooine during the events of Star Wars Rebels.
