10 Star Wars Characters Who Got Undeservedly Brutal Deaths
They deserved better.
It's extraordinary how kids-friendly Star Wars is regarded, considering the death toll throughout the franchise measures in the billions.
Now, there are lot of people who were snuffed out that totally deserved it, like Jabba, Tarkin, and The Emperor. Even when one of the good guys pops their clogs (or whatever they wear in the Star Wars universe), you can accept it if they had an honourable death. Obi-Wan Kenobi allowed himself to be struck down by Vader. Yoda was ready to be one with the Force after living for 900 years. Luke Skywalker's sacrifice gave the Rebels enough time to flee from The First Order.
But there are some who suffered brutal deaths far worse than was merited Although the Jedi know the dangers of their lifestyle, The Great Jedi Purge was nothing short of tragic. Some of these characters never hurt a fly or a womp rat, and yet, were slaughtered for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Even though Star Wars is filled with dismemberments, decapitations, and poor souls being fed to the Sarlaac Pit Monster, the entries on this list got it worse than anyone.
10. Admiral Ackbar - Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
Admiral Gial Ackbar is far more than his "It's a trap!" meme. The Mon Calamari is a leader, a tactician, a loyal friend to Leia, and crucial asset to the Rebel Alliance. So, when it was announced the salmon-like fleet commander would be returning for the Disney sequels, fans were over both of Tatooine's moons.
Sadly, The Last Jedi was the end of the road for Ackbar. In the beginning of the film, a TIE fighter blasts the gruff admiral's vessel, casting him into space, where he suffocates to death.
Because he has been in the thick of war for 60 years, it was expected Ackbar would bite the dust by being blasted by an enemy ship. And yet, it still felt unfair since the death of the alien who contributed to The Empire's destruction was barely acknowledged by his friends and allies. They knew him for at least 30 years and yet, never mention his name again after he bites the dust.
This scene is more upsetting when you take into account the actor portraying him, Tim Rose, begged for Ackbar not to be killed off, and cried when he was unable to change the filmmakers' minds.
