When The Mandalorian first dropped in 2019, it broke the internet. From Pedro Pascal as the titular hero, to frickin' Baby Yoda, this was arguably the best thing to have come from the Star Wars franchise since 1983.

Everything seemed to work in the series, including Gina Carano as Cara Dune. Both Carano and Dune were so impressive that there was reportedly a spinoff in the works. This, of course, all came crashing down with the controversy surrounding the actor, and what she chose to publish on Twitter.

Carano was ultimately fired after the end of season two. Naturally, the absence of such an important character would have to be explained, particularly when Mando visited Navarro, the planet on which Dune was stationed when she was last seen.

But that didn't happen. Instead, High Magistrate Greef Karga gave both Din Djarin and the audience what can only be described as a painfully vague excuse for why the character was absent: she was recruited by the New Republic Special Forces, but realistically, that doesn't mean anything.

She could have gone anywhere and done anything, but it's highly unlikely Cara Dune will ever be referenced on Star Wars screens again.
