10 Star Wars Characters With Most Wasted Potential

8. Biggs Darklighter

Biggs Darklighter sounds like the sort of generic Star Wars name you might be given as a default when booting up an online RPG. Instead, he's lowkey one of the most important characters in the entire galactic saga.

A native of Tatooine, Darklighter grew up alongside Luke Skywalker and shared in Skywalker's dreams of becoming a pilot. He left the planet before Luke, graduating from the Imperial Academy before defecting to join the Rebel Alliance.

Biggs is only on screen for a handful of minutes in A New Hope, when he is reunited with Luke just before the battle of Yavin. He is then killed during the assault on the Death Star and... that's it!

This guy is set up to be a pretty big deal in the early portion of the film. He's presented as Luke's best friend, and then, he just dies without any fanfare! What's up with that?

There was actually a scene filmed where Biggs returned to Tatooine to talk to Luke about the Rebellion, but that was sadly left on the cutting room floor.

If it had been left in, it could have changed the course of Star Wars history!

Okay, that might be a bit of a hyperbole.
