10 Star Wars Cliffhangers That Will Never Be Resolved
1. Where Is Cara Dune?
Cara Dune (Gina Carano) was one of the standout characters in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, enough that Disney reportedly intended to center their planned spin-off series, Rangers of the New Republic, around her.
But after Carano was dismissed from The Mandalorian due to her controversial social media posts, Dune was swiftly written out of the show.
In the third season's first episode, Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) mentioned that Cara had left her post as marshal of Nevarro and was now working for the New Republic Special Forces. And that's all she wrote.
While vaguely suggesting that Dune is still out in the galaxy doing good work is absolutely preferable to her being suddenly killed off, this was very clearly a case of Disney sweeping the whole matter under the rug.
It's a shame given the character's overwhelming popularity, but also understandable within the context of Carano's dismissal.
While it's possible she could be recast one day or her adventures could continue in animation with a new likeness and voice actress, the manner in which she was quickly written out of The Mandalorian suggests that's probably not going to happen.
Cara's off doing her own thing, and fans shouldn't expect the matter to ever be elaborated upon, unfortunately.
