10 Star Wars Fates Worse Than Death

2. The Decraniated

Think Borg, only worse.

The Decraniated were a class of slaves that had their humanity wiped from them by Dr. Cornelius Evazan. He was experimenting with cybernetic enhancements on the poor souls who fell under his knife, resulting in the horrors befalling these workers.

Dr. Evazan may be best remembered for telling a young Luke Skywalker that neither he nor his companion liked the farmboy very much, but even Skywalker didn't know how close to pure madness he had come that day.

Evazan had been a brilliant cosmetic surgeon before his own disfigurement, sinking into a pit of evil experiments. The Decraniated were just one of his horrors.

They were seen in Jedha City before that city was destroyed by the Death Star, although they remained in service in other various areas after this.

There was no hope of recovery once a person was recovered. They were mindless and bound to serve their master, a walking corpse by all accounts. Whether they were aware of their predicament is uncertain, though one sincerely hopes not.
