10 Star Wars Mistakes You Can’t Unsee
5. Kylo Ren's Disappearing Ashes Table - The Force Awakens
J.J. Abrams wasn't afraid to delve into the darker recesses of the Star Wars universe when tasked with pumping some new blood into the franchise back in 2015, and the backstory behind the table Kylo Ren dumps his mask on during that film's captivating torture scene highlights this and then some.
Said table actually holds the ashes of the fallen Jedi's fallen enemies, believe it or not. But perhaps the most disturbing realisation about this chilling table is the fact that it can seemingly disappear into thin air.
During the exchange between the apprentice of Snoke and the Jedi-in-waiting, Kylo's tribute to his grandfather is plonked on the furniture in a close-up, only to go missing once we jump to a wide shot of the room.
In truth, Abrams has gone on record to admit that this "ashes" moment was originally designed to take place in the scene where Ren converses with Vader's mask. Despite feeling it didn't quite fit that section of the movie, the director loved the shot too much to leave it out altogether, so dropped it in here instead... continuity be damned!
