10 Star Wars Moments That Were Almost WAY Darker

9. Luke Blames Himself For Han's Death

Star Wars The Last Jedi Luke Skywalker Ben Solo flashback

The Last Jedi is already a dark film. You've got the last of the resistance being hunted down by the First Order, along with the revelation that Luke Skywalker, in a moment of fear, contemplated murdering Kylo Ren in his sleep. However, if that weren't dark enough, there is another scene with Luke that didn't make it into the final cut.

Luke, Leia, and Han have been the trinity of Star Wars since the original film and Han was, of course, the first of them to die on-screen. Although it was Kylo Ren who actually swung the lightsaber that ended Han's life, Luke was the man who trained a young Ben Solo in the ways of the Force.

A cut scene from the Last Jedi shows Luke mourning Han's death, in a way that clearly shows how responsible he feels over it. The moment that he considered killing Ben led to the rise of Kylo Ren, which, like a set of dominoes falling, led to the death of Han.

It is a moment that is heartbreaking and it is a further blow against one of the most optimistic characters in the franchise. This was filmed and destined to end up in the movie itself but, perhaps wisely, this was left on the cutting room floor instead.
