4. Hosnian Prime
When the Death Star was finished, a planet was destroyed. When Starkiller Base was finished, a whole system was lost!
After the defeat of the Empire, the New Republic began the process of rebuilding. Their new base of operations, and the center of their government was the planet Hosnian Prime. It began as a base for training new pilots and was eventually voted as the New Republic capital.
This cosmopolitan world resembled Coruscant in many ways, but by this time in the galaxy, when Coruscant was fading into a crime-ridden shell, Hosnian Prime was flourishing under its new role; one that the First Order could stand no longer. Upon completion of Starkiller Base, Hosnian Prime became its first victim. Absorbing the power of the sun, the weapon took out not only the Republic capital, but every planet in the Hosnian system.
Effectively wiping out the governing force in a single move, the First Order moved quickly to establish their own power base. In the aftermath of Hosnian's destruction, it would also see the creation of a new star.
