10 Star Wars Spin-Offs Gareth Edwards Needs To Direct

7. Commander Cody - Clone Troopers

From elite soldiers to buffons in white armour beaten by ewoks, the evolution from clone trooper to stormtrooper has not always been an easy one. The obvious answer is that by the time Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope came around, many of the genetically engineered soldiers from the clone wars had been replaced by normal men enlisting with the Galactic Empire, flaws and all. A film focusing on the clone troopers post-Revenge Of The Sith might be a great way to redress the balance. We've already seen the characters Commander Cody and Captain Rex in The Clone Wars TV series and the prequel trilogy. Cody turned on Obi-Wan Kenobi when Order 66 was enacted; what would the impact of that destroyed friendship have on him? Given his genetic modification, perhaps he would feel nothing. However growing remorse for his involvement in the eradication of the Jedi might make for an interesting story. A Cody-centric film might be great way to present the transformation of clones to storm troopers in the rise of the Empire. It would show them in action at their very best and give audiences the opportunity to view how the galaxy changed after the Clone Wars.
