10 Star Wars: The Force Awakens Rumours That Ended Up Being Bullsh*t

9. Kylo And Rey Are Brother And Sister

J.J. Abrams' decision to not reveal the true names of Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren has meant that fans have spent months trying to figure out which of these characters might have ties to those from the original (or perhaps even prequel) trilogy. We learn early on that Finn doesn't have a name and later that Kylo is really Ben Solo, but Rey's true identity and parentage has yet to be revealed and likely won't be until Episode VIII or beyond. Does that mean the rumours about Rey and Kylo being brother and sister are accurate? While the first half of the movie does seem to flirt with the idea of revealing that Rey is Han and Leia's secret daughter, it quickly becomes apparent that that's not the case despite how much potential revealing that they hid her on Jakku to hide the Force-strong youngster from her brother might have had. There's no doubt going to be some sort of interesting revelation down the line in regards to Rey's family tree, but being a member of the Solo clan doesn't appear to be it and there were absolutely no solid signs in The Force Awakens that the reports pointing to these two new leads being related were in any way accurate. Ultimately, it's probably for the best that Abrams decided against heading in such a predictable direction anyway!
