Alongside unleashing groundbreaking CGI in both the Original and Prequel Trilogies, George Lucas and the various talented souls behind the scenes also threw some of the most wonderful practical effects in movie history into Episodes I-VI.

That being said, a major criticism sent Lucas' way after the initially poorly received Prequel outings was that the pioneering filmmaker relied a little too much on all things digital from The Phantom Menace onwards. Though, as this list will also highlight, even that sentiment has softened somewhat over the last 10-years.

Still, though, it's clear that the folks creating everything from The Force Awakens, to The Book of Boba Fett were very much interested in combining more glorious practical aliens, sets, and very much lighting up on set lightsabers with the cutting edge computer-generated effects that remain present in Star Wars projects post-2013.

Again, it's not as though the Prequels were completely devoid of practical brilliance, with spectacular miniatures being made of the Geonosis and Mos Espa Grand Arenas (via Screen Rant) in order to capture certain brilliant shots of the locations for the movies.

But there's no denying that the overall amount and quality of the practical masterpieces popping up in modern Star Wars offerings has noticeably increased and improved, respectively, in recent times.
