10 Star Wars Things That Improved Over The Last 10 Years
6. Jar Jar Binks Is Now Being Properly Appreciated As A Game-Changer
In the wake of The Phantom Menace's release in 1999, it was poor Ahmed Best who unfortunately found himself on the receiving end of a ton of the negativity sent Episode I's way.
And with Best's work as the Gungan comedic supporting player Jar Jar Binks being largely rejected by critics and fans alike at the time, the character's role in the subsequent Episodes was noticeably reduced.
Tragically, Best even went on to admit that he considered suicide (via The Guardian) on the back of the media backlash he faced after his Star Wars debut.
As the years went by, though, those young fans the hapless Gungan was aimed at grew up. And their fond memories of the laughs Best provided them with have survived, leading to some long overdue love being sent the talented actor's way in recent times.
His return to the Star Wars sphere as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in the latest season of The Mandalorian opened the door for even more deserved salutes in his direction, too.
Jar Jar Binks as a character has also started to become more appreciated as the genuine game-changer he was at the time of Episode I's arrival, with the animated alien being the first-ever fully computer-generated supporting character in movie history.
In short, before the likes of Gollum and Thanos were ever even a big-screen thing, Jar Jar was here changing the galaxy.
