9. Stephen King Killed John Lennon

Don’t be fooled: it wasn’t Mark David Chapman, Catcher in the Rye obsessive and devout Christian, that killed Beatles legend John Lennon. As Steve Lightfoot – who by the sounds of it is no stranger to a tinfoil hat – will tell you it was actually none other than master of horror Stephen King.

Lightfoot points out the physical similarities between Chapman and King (that is, they’re both white dudes who wear glasses) and poses that it was King who pulled the trigger with Chapman taking the fall as a paid patsy. That begs the question, why would King want to kill John Lennon?

Well, according to Lightfoot Lennon’s death was part of a plot devised by American presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan to rid America of Lennon’s anti-capitalist, love and peace shtick. Why exactly they’d hire a novel writer to carry out the hit and a young, mentally ill Holden Caulfield fanatic to take the blame is a little blurry, but Lightfoot seems pretty convinced of King’s guilt.

Given that King in recent years has voiced his support for increased gun control and his dislike of current POTUS Donal Trump, it seems unlikely that two Republican presidents would hire a left-leaning anti-gunner to off a Commie rock star. But who knows? That could be exactly what King wants us to think.
