10 Stephen King Fan Theories That Make Appalling Sense

8. The Green Mile’s John Coffey Was The Second Coming Of Christ

The Shining Apollo 11 Hoax

The Green Mile’s protagonist John Coffey is a simple, kind-hearted man with miraculous healing powers and the ability to resurrect the dead (well, dead mice anyway) who has been wrongly convicted of a heinous crime he didn’t commit and sentenced to death by electric chair.

Does that sound suspiciously like anyone you’ve heard of before? Say a certain religious figure born under a star some 2,000 odd years ago going by the moniker ‘Son of God’, perhaps?

Let’s examine the evidence. Not only do John Coffey and Jesus Christ share the same initials, they also share the ability to heal others and ended up dying for someone else’s sins – in Coffey’s case for the sins of Wild Bill Wharton, the man truly responsible for the tragic murders of which Coffey was falsely convicted and in the case of Jesus the sins of, like, all mankind.

Seems to us that King could have envisioned John Coffey as the second coming of Christ, and just like the first coming of Christ us !*$% mere mortals messed it up again, this time by sending him to the electric chair.
