10 Stephen King Movies To Watch Before It

7. Silver Bullet

The Shining Twins
Paramount Pictures

Adapted by King from his novella Cycle Of The Werewolf, Silver Bullet is a good old fashioned werewolf movie done with practical effects and not a single leather-clad, gun-toting female vampire in sight.

The eponymous Silver Bullet is the name of the motorized wheelchair (capable of reaching 50 mph) used by young Corey Haim, who cries werewolf when several partially devoured bodies are discovered. Naturally, the rest of the town (including mad-eyed Gary Busey, who’s either high or pretending to be) doesn’t believe him, so it’s not long before the creature comes looking for Haim.

The culprit turns out to be the town’s Reverend, played by Twin Peaks’ Everett McGill, who in one of the more outrageous sequences imagines his congregation transforming into lycanthropes while he watches.

When Haim blinds him in one eye during an attack, McGill takes to wearing an eye-patch that gives him an uncomfortable resemblance to Nick Fury, but the townsfolk still don’t believe our hero so the scene is set for an epic showdown.
