10 Stephen King Stories That Deserve Film Adaptations
7. Blockade Billy
King's always been a big baseball fan and long-time readers will have noticed many references to the sport scattered throughout his short stories and novels. 2010's Blockade Billy was 100% dedicated to baseball, focusing on a minor league player who gets a shot at the big time and turns out to be exceptionally talented, becoming an integral part of his new team.
Over time, however, a darker side to Billy begins to emerge and the narrator's suspicions towards him grow, culminating in a thrilling and unexpected finale. Unlike many of King's other stories, Blockade Billy is 100% grounded in reality, with no supernatural elements, perfect for a feature-length thriller.
It's only a short story and took King just a couple of weeks to write, but Blockade Billy still has all it needs to be transformed into a fantastic film, and it would be nice for King to finally see his own personal love of the game brought to life like never before.
