10 Stinking 2016 Movies That Scored 0% On Rotten Tomatoes

1. Cabin Fever

There’s good reason why movie remakes are nigh on universally hated. A few notable exceptions withstanding, they are pretty much universally awful. See Exhibit A: Travis Zariwny’s remake of Eli Roth’s 2002 directorial debut Cabin Fever.

Don’t get us wrong, the original – five cardboard cut-out college kids head to the sticks for a week of fun, fornication and flesh-eating viruses – was by no means a masterpiece of modern horror, but at least it was its own movie. The remake is utterly pointless though, put bluntly. Barring a few minor tweaks, Zariwny brings nothing new to the table in what is practically a take-for-take remake of Roth’s original screenplay.

You have to wonder what the deal is with Roth, who surprisingly was fully on board this abysmal remake as an executive producer. Is it an exercise in egotism seeing his debut remade? Did he stick around to make sure Zariwny didn’t end up making a better version of Cabin Fever?

Whatever the craic is, the end product is unnecessary, unimaginative and ultimately unwatchable.
