10 Strange David Lynch Stories You Probably Don't Know
5. He Referred To Mad Men Actors By Characters’ Names
One fact about Lynch that permeates throughout almost all his projects is that he’s obviously infatuated with the Golden Era. The 1950s and 1960s are infused into the very bones of such Lynch films as Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive, and the director’s dialogue all feels very peachy-keen in a real Happy Days kind of way.
This just adds to the surreality of his films, of course, but it really seems to be something that’s fused to his personality. For example, when Lynch met Mad Men actors Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss for the first time, he apparently spent the entire conversation referring to them by their character’s names (Don and Peggy, respectively) while asking how the other characters were.
